Same model, different throttle body: a Cayenne 9PA can use any of the three units depending on whether it's the V6, the S / Turbo or the GTS. The 911 997 also changed at the 2008 facelift (Gen 1 to Gen 2). Always check the number on your old unit before ordering.

How to Choose

Find the part number on the label of your old throttle body. Porsche numbers usually start 997, 948 or 955.
Confirm the model and engine: chassis code (for example 997, 9PA, 970), engine size and version (S, GTS, Turbo).
Count the pins in the plug and compare the bore size with your old unit.

After fitting: clear any stored fault codes and run a throttle adaptation with a Porsche-compatible diagnostic tool (such as PIWIS or a good aftermarket scanner), so the engine learns the new unit. Which throttle body fits my Cayenne?

It depends on the engine. The 9PA 3.2 V6 uses 99760511501. The 9PA S, Turbo and Turbo S use 94860511502 / 503. The 9PA GTS and 92A S / GTS use the 82 mm unit 99760511601. Check the number on your old unit to be sure.

Is the 997 Gen 1 throttle body the same as Gen 2?

No. Gen 1 cars (2004–2008) use 99760511501. Gen 2 cars with the direct-injection engine (2008–2012) use the 82 mm unit 99760511601.

Will a VW throttle body fit my Porsche?

The 6-pin unit 022133062AJ is shared by the Porsche 911 / Boxster / Cayenne V6 and the VW 3.2 V6 (Golf R32, Touareg, Phaeton, Transporter). If the part number on your old unit matches, it will fit.

Do I need to adapt a new throttle body?

Yes. Clear the fault codes and run a throttle adaptation with a Porsche-compatible diagnostic tool after fitting. This lets the engine learn the new unit.
