How to Choose the Right VW Door Lock

Know your model and generation, for example Golf Mk4 or Touareg, and the year.
Pick the door: front or rear, and right (driver side on UK cars) or left (passenger side).
Match the OE number and pin count on your old lock. VW locks come with 6, 7, 8 or 9-pin plugs, and the plug must match your wiring.

Why are Audi, Seat and Skoda listed on VW door locks?

They're all VW Group brands and share many door locks. A Touareg front lock, for example, is the same part as on several Audi models. Check the OE number and the VW model on the product page.

Will a Golf Mk4 lock fit a Golf Mk5 or Mk6?

No. Each Golf generation uses different locks and plugs. Match the OE number on your old lock, or send us your reg to confirm.

How many pins does my VW door lock have?

Look at the plug on the old lock and count the terminals. Locks in this collection come in 6, 7, 8 and 9-pin versions, and the new one must match.

Can I replace just the motor?

On these VW models the motor is built into the latch, so the complete lock unit is replaced. That's also the more reliable repair.
